Ponatahi Christian School | Carterton

LOWER PRIMARY TEACHER
Permanent | Full time

Ponatahi Christian School is a Y1–13 coeducational, integrated area school with a roll of around 130, located in a beautiful semi-rural setting on the edge of Carterton in the Wairarapa. We are guided by our mission statement, ‘Enabling young people to go forth serving God and society’ as we prayerfully seek to enact our vision of ‘Being a school that teaches students according to God’s Word while nurturing them in every respect’. Our values of Respect, Diligence, Integrity, Fellowship, and Kindness underpin everything that we do.

We are seeking a qualified, dedicated, innovative, and passionate teacher who is able and willing to teach the New Zealand Curriculum as guided by our special character, who has effective empathy for and high expectations of every learner, and who warmly embraces the principles of student wellbeing as enabled by the PB4l framework; the abilities and passion to understand and connect with the learning needs and styles of every student, plan effective next steps in their learning, immerse them in effective pedagogy and classroom management, and support them with clear and regular communication with their caregivers,  are highly desired.

This is a full-time permanent position that begins term 1, 2025. We need another full-time teacher in the lower school: the precise arrangement awaits confirmation depending on a range of issues, but it will be teaching one or two of the year groups in the junior primary area.

We offer a supportive teaching and learning environment where staff are respected and supported, professional development facilitated, collaborative practices expected, and most importantly, the LORD is honoured in everything.

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for these positions are set by the New Zealand Area Schools' Collective Agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers is dependent on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.

Please send your CV, covering letter and direct any enquiries to the Principal
