Deputy Principal: Head of Primary (Years 1-6)
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a permanent full-time Deputy Principal: Head of Primary starting January 2027.
About the Role
As a crucial member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Deputy Principal: Head of Primary provides the educational, pedagogical, and spiritual leadership necessary to ensure Emmanuel Christian School’s mission, vision, and learning outcomes are achieved across Years 1–6.
This key leadership vacancy comes during an exciting season of staged growth as our current roll of just over 300 students expands toward 425 by 2030 and 550 by 2034.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Special Character Leadership: Model Christ-centred leadership, lead staff devotions, and integrate a Biblical Worldview across the New Zealand Curriculum.
Instructional & Curriculum Leadership: Oversee Y1–6 curriculum, assessment, and reporting, promoting effective, biblically based, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
Classroom Engagement & SENCO: Maintain an active presence across primary classrooms and, depending on the appointee’s strengths, Y1–6 SENCO / Learning Support responsibilities. This would be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Pastoral Care & Behaviour Management: Maintain an orderly, safe, and nurturing environment while managing student pastoral care and conduct across Years 1–6.
Senior Leadership & Administration: Contribute to strategic planning, day-to-day management of primary staff, assemblies, budget oversight, and school events.

We are seeking an organised, caring, and proactive administrator to join our dedicated team and support the day-to-day operation of our Student Services. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in providing support to students, staff, and families while contributing to our school community. No two days are the same, and your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the day-to-day functions of Student Services
Administering student first aid and supporting the school sick bay
Maintaining student medical and risk management records
Coordinating school communications, newsletters, surveys, website, and social media updates
Assisting with Health & Safety administration and other school-wide support activities.
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience in administration, reception, or a similar support role
Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail
Confidence using Microsoft Office
The ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment
A high level of discretion when handling confidential information
A current First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain one (training can be provided)
Experience with KAMAR is advantageous
